Our Beliefs
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
A fuller summary of our beliefs is found in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Our Distinctives
We seek to be a church characterized by
-
Reverent, joyful, God-centered worship. Our triune God is the focus of our worship. We exalt him for his greatness, holiness, and grace.
-
Bible-based, expository, Christ-centered preaching. We aim to feed our congregation on all of God’s Word by teaching through books of the Bible.
-
The ordinary means of grace. We are persuaded that the main way that God brings unbelievers to saving faith and builds up believers is through the preaching of the Bible, the sacraments, and prayer.
-
Historical rootedness. Our beliefs are summarized by the Westminster Confession of Faith and we hold to the ancient creeds. Our worship includes congregational singing of psalms and hymns, old and new.
-
Strengthening families. We nurture marriages, equip parents, emphasize family worship, and instruct children in the foundations of our faith.
-
Community. We are a fellowship that includes young and old, singles and families.
-
Biblically qualified leadership. We hold that elders and deacons must be men who are morally upright, doctrinally sound, and pastorally engaged.
-
Welcoming inquirers. We seek to show hospitality to inquirers of Christianity and take their questions seriously.
Our Denomination
The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARPChurch.org) is a conservative, evangelical denomination which holds to the historic Christian faith as revealed in the Bible. Our beliefs are summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
-
God is the sovereign creator and ruler of the universe.
-
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the only Savior and Lord of man.
-
The Holy Spirit is the initiator and enabler for the Christian life.
-
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God, the only rule of faith and practice.
The ARP Synod is the central body of government for our denomination. Please visit ARPChurch.org for more information.
The Five Solas
Our church embraces these Reformation mottoes:
Sola Scriptura
Scripture is our only rule of
faith and practice
Solus Christus
Christ is the only mediator through
whose atonement we are redeemed
Sola Fide
Faith alone is the instrument by
which one receives salvation
Sola Gratia
God’s grace is the ultimate
cause of our salvation
Soli Deo Gloria
God’s glory is the ultimate aim
in all His and our endeavors
“It is the dogma that is the drama – not beautiful phrases, not comforting sentiments, not vague aspirations to loving-kindness and moral uplift, nor the promise of something nice after death—but the terrifying assertion that the same God who made the world lived in the world and passed through the grave and gate of death. Show that to the heathen, and they may not believe it; but at least they may realize that here is something that one might be glad to believe.”
- Dorothy Sayers
